Strongbow’s
100% owned Anki Nickel property (also known as Thye Lake or Nickel King)
is located in the Northwest Territories, approximately 550km
southeast of Yellowknife and 135km northeast of Stoney Rapids, Saskatchewan.
The property comprises four mineral claims covering a total area of 2,425
ha. The property is located within the 2,800km long Snowbird Tectonic Zone
that forms the boundary between the Archean Rae and Hearn geological provinces.
Numerous mafic-ultramafic intrusions have been emplaced
along this major crustal
scale structure, and nickel sulphide showings occur preferentially in orthopyroxene+/-
olivine bearing intrusions, rather than more common ‘simple’ gabbros.
The Anki property covers showings of disseminated to semi-massive pyrrhotite
+/- chalcopyrite +/- pentlandite hosted within thin (<5m to 150m wide) orthopyroxene-rich,
variably amphibolitized mafic to ultramafic sills.
In February 2004 Strongbow also acquired two prospecting permits (36,981ha)
covering mafic/ultramafic intrusions to the northeast of Anki. Data from a
government sponsored regional aeromagnetic survey of this area has recently
been released and will be used to help evaluate the nickel potential of these
permits.
