Strongbow’s
100% owned Daring Lake Property consists of 11 mineral claims covering 8,425
hectares located northwest of BHP Billiton’s Ekati diamond mine and southwest
of Yamba Lake. Stornoway Diamonds Corporation currently has an option to earn
a 51% interest in the property. The claims were acquired after the area was
identified as having not been rigorously explored by earlier workers, despite
its prospective location adjacent to the Ekati property. Exploration of the
Daring Lake property has been primarily limited to an April 2002 helicopter-borne
electromagnetic/magnetic geophysical survey. The survey was conducted at a
line spacing of 100m and follow up work has so far consisted of very limited
ground truthing of selected potential kimberlite targets and till sampling.
The property is located down ice of numerous kimberlites on the Ekati property,
resulting in a high background of kimberlite indicator minerals in the area.
However, sampling media in the northern part of the property is considered quite
good and several of Strongbow’s samples have returned in excess of the
20 kimberlite indicator minerals. During the spring of 2004 Stornoway conducted
ground geophysical surveys over 6 targets. Further work on the property is presently
under consideration, including possible drill testing of several priority geophysical
targets.
