Overview
Strongbow’s portfolio of diamond exploration properties comprises
over 1 million hectares of ground, including land positions in several of Canada’s
most high profile diamond exploration areas including
Lac
de Gras, Northwest Territories, the
Coronation Gulf
and
Melville Peninsula districts of
Nunavut, and the
James Bay lowlands
area of Ontario. Each of these areas is known to host diamondiferous kimberlites
and provide Strongbow with excellent exposure to the diamond potential of Canada’s
north.
Exploration of existing properties by Strongbow and partners has seen the collection
of over 3000 till samples and almost 80,000 line kilometres of airborne geophysical
data. In 2003 alone, almost 1200 till samples and over 20,000 line kilometres
of fixed wing magnetic data were collected.
Much of Strongbow’s exploration to date has focused on upgrading properties
from the grass roots to drill ready stage. A measure of the success of these
programs is the fact that Strongbow and partners have drilled three properties
in 2004 (
Starfish,
Wales
Island and
Bear), resulting
in the discovery of two new kimberlites on the Wales Island property. Further
drilling is planned in 2005 at both Wales Island and the
LDG property.
Many properties, including large early stage land positions on the Melville peninsula
(
Fury,
Sarcpa)
and southern Coronation district (
Napaktulik,
Blue
Lake) will see further till sampling, prospecting and possible ground geophysical
surveys.
