Strongbow
presently has an option to earn a 30% interest in the Gem property, comprised
of three prospecting permits covering roughly 44,000 ha in central Melville
Peninsula. The permits were acquired in February 2003 with the intension
of covering several outcrops of ‘serpentinized ultramafic rock’ identified
on early mapping published by the Geological Survey of Canada.
Exploration to date has consisted of the collection of 32 regional till samples
during the summer of 2003, as well as the ground truthing of several of the
mapped ‘ultramafic’ bodies.
These field investigations did not result in the discovery of kimberlite, however
results of the till sampling indicate at least one specific area of the property
requires further follow up exploration. Plans for 2004 included detailed follow
sampling of anomalous results from 2003.
Strongbow’s partners on the property are NDT Ventures Ltd., Stornoway
Diamond Corporation and BHP Billiton.
