Overview
Strongbow’s portfolio of active gold and base metal projects exploration
includes nine properties covering an aggregate area of over 250,000 hectares,
primarily in Nunavut. The properties include mineral claims and Inuit Owned Lands
in several high profile gold plays including the Committee
Bay, Hope Bay, and High Lake (Ulu
South) areas. In addition, Strongbow, either directly or through joint venture
partners, is actively exploring in the Yathkyed (Nowyak),
Back River (Regan Lake), and north
Slave (Anialik, Tree
River) areas.
Strongbow has increased its exposure to base metal exploration over the last
year, principally through the development of the Musk and Canoe
Lake projects, as well as investigating the base metal potential of the Anialik
and Ulu South properties. These properties overlie thick, differentiated mafic
to felsic calc-alkaline volcanic sequences of Archean age (2.68 billion years),
similar to rock sequences which elsewhere host the copper-zinc volcanogenic massive
sulphide (VMS) deposits at Timmins, Val d’Or and Noranda. Base metal production
from VMS deposits in the north Slave region will be closely tied to future development
of road and port infrastructure suitable for arctic shipping of metal sulphide
concentrates.
