Strongbow’s 100% owned Hope Bay project is comprised of 5 mineral
claims (4,121 ha) located on tide water at the northeast end of the Hope
Bay volcanic belt, approximately 125 km southwest of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.
The property lies 3000m north and along strike of Miramar Mining Corp.’s
Doris gold deposit, which is presently in the permitting stage of a potential
mine development.
Past exploration of the ORO claims has included detailed bedrock mapping, airborne
and ground geophysical surveys, prospecting and approximately 3,500m of drilling
in three separate campaigns, the most recent in 2003. This work has led to
the identification of several prospective horizons within stratigraphy similar
to that hosting mineralization at Miramar’s Doris deposit, however to
date drill intercepts have returned uneconomic gold values. A work program
is presently not planned for 2004, however the property does contain several
untested areas of interest that warrant further work in future.
