Strongbow’s Nowyak Lake gold property consists of six mineral claims
(5,521 Ha) covering a north-northeast trending shear zone that hosts gold
and silver telluride mineralization.
Boulders found on the property have returned up to 117 g/t Au and 1420 g/t
Ag. The property is located in eastern Kivalliq region of Nunavut, approximately
350 km northwest of Churchill, MB. The area lies near the southeastern margin
of the Archean Yathkyed greenstone belt. The property was explored by the company
from 1998 to 2000, with work consisting of mapping, prospecting, trenching,
ground geophysical surveys, and limited drilling. A total of eleven drill holes
have tested two of the five identified showings within the property. While
the drilling has encountered narrow mineralization of a similar style to that
observed in the high grade boulders, an interpreted source for the boulders
has yet to be identified.
In May 2004, Strongbow announced the signing of an agreement with Canadian
Gold Hunter Corp., under which CGH may earn a 70% interest in the Nowyak property
by spending CDN$2.0 million over 5 years, with a first year (2004) work commitment
of $100,000.
