Strongbow Commissions Airborne Time-Domain Electromagnetic Survey at Nickel King Project, NWT
| ||News Release #06-18|
Strongbow Exploration Inc. (SBW: TSXV) is pleased to report it has commissioned an airborne time-domain electromagnetic (MEGATEM) survey if its 100% owned Nickel King (Anki) project located in southern Northwest Territories, approximately 145 km northeast of Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan. The purpose of the survey is to outline coincident magnetic/electromagnetic anomalies associated with nickel sulphide mineralization within the property. Past exploration of the Nickel King property by previous operators consisted of diamond drilling as well as ground geophysical, geochemical and bedrock mapping surveys. The property has never been previously tested by an airborne electromagnetic survey.
Previous drilling (5,776 m in 31 drill holes) of the Nickel King project area has encountered nickel sulphide mineralization, over a 2,000 m strike length, within <5 to 150 m wide, orthopyroxene rich, variably amphibolized mafic to ultramafic sills. Highlight drill intercepts include (0.5% Ni cut-off):
The recently commissioned MEGATEM survey is currently scheduled to commence within the next two weeks. The purpose of the survey is to i) characterize the electromagnetic ("EM") signature of the known mineralized areas, ii) identify EM targets below and along strike from known mineralization, and iii) identify new, coincident magnetic/EM anomalies. A complete review of past exploration data for the Nickel King project is currently underway. Results of this data review and the geophysical survey will be used to plan an exploration program for spring 2007.
- 13.7 m grading 1.21% Ni and 0.36% Cu;
- 7.0 m grading 0.82% Ni and 0.22% Cu;
- 16.4 m grading 0.85% Ni and 0.19% Cu;
- 12.0 m grading 1.08% Ni, 0.26% Cu and 0.073% Co
